America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag is just that. It isn’t a deep book nor doesn’t it contain earth shattering revelations. The book simply shows what it is that Palin holds dear. These are all values and ideals that I grew up with. Because of that Palin comes across almost like family. She has a folksy charm, which comes across in her writing. There are a number of long quotes in the book; ranging from poetry to politics, and comedy to conservationism. Often these quotes don’t exactly illustrate what Palin thinks they do. (I’m thinking of “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington.”) Still she comes across as someone I would love to meet; her politics (a self-described Commonsense Constitutional Conservative) I would have no trouble voting for.
