Chuck Klosterman On Pop

Chuck Klosterman On Pop

Chuck Klosterman On Pop is a lighter continuation of Chuck Klosterman On Rock. I find it odd that Simon and Schuster has released these collections, which are taken from other Klosterman collections, especially as the themes are not as tight as you might think. Klosterman talks about Billy Joel, Country Music, Music Critics, Britney Spears, U2, Morrissey, Radiohead, Wilco, Mike Skinner, Grath Brooks, Abba, and Weezer. I find I agree with Klosterman less with this collection than with the Rock collection. U2 and Radiohead are certainly Rock and not Pop. There is a hardness, an edginess, emotional directness, and lyrical complexity to Rock that I don’t associate with Pop music.
