Solar System by Marcus Chown

Solar System

Solar System: A Visual Exploration of All the Planets, Moons and Other Heavenly Bodies that Orbit Our Sun gives a quick visual overview of all the larger and most interesting smaller bodies in our solar system. Starting with our sun the book moves outward, explaining the physical nature of the: planets, moons, asteroids, dwarf planets, the Kuiper Belt, comets and the Ort Cloud. The photography is excellent. They used the best sources from ground based telescopes, spaced based telescopes, and probes that have visited the planets. The graphics are excellent, which make it easy to compare objects and get a feel for the scale and composition of each object.
The written text was clear and easy-to understand. Chown managed to weave just enough history, science, and even pop culture to make our solar system interesting- even for a novice.
