Vintage John Deere by Dave Arnold

Vintage John Deere

Vintage John Deere: Early History And The Two-Cylinder Years, 1837-1960 – hits the highlights of John Deere’s early tractors. After attending Rollag this year, I’ve been interested in learning more about Farm Tractors. My grandfather’s brother, Fred had a Model D. This book gave a quick history of one the most important names in tractor manufacturing, with lots of photos. I noticed more than a few were taken in Rollag. Arnold does a good job describing each model and the many variations available.

“Even the sixteen-year-old D model was restyled in 1939 and given a major facelift. The new design spawned a very forceful, bulldog appearance, indicative of its senior place in the Deere line and its strengths in the field.” -page 45
