Timescape tells the story of the scientists who struggle to send a warning message constrained by their knowledge of tachyons and limited resources; and the scientist in 1962 who has to deal with unexplainable noise in his experiment and then deal with an unclear message.
Benford does a good job of bringing the scientists and their families to life. He also has an ending that seemed believable- a rarity in Science Fiction. Timescape was the 1980 winner of the Nebula Award and the 1981 John W. Clark Award.
