Contact by Carl Sagan

For reasons that are more personal than practical this is my favorite book. Contact  has one of the best characters in all of fiction: Ellie Arroway. It also has a story that can not be topped: First Contact. Sagan writes in a clear, easy to read style. He does pepper the story with related science- he can’t help but teach- I find it charming. The themes in the book are large and also personal. This is one of the few books I’ve read more than twice. This go around, I listened to the Unabridged version as read by Laurel Lefkow. Lefkow did a good job giving each character a distinctive voice and bringing the story to life.
