Little Blog On The Prairie by Cathleen Davitt Bell

Little Blog On The Prairie

I don’t normally read young adult fiction, but when I read the description of this novel about a teenage girl forced to endure a family camp in Wyoming where you must live authentically in the year 1890, I couldn’t resist.

Like the author, I was a huge fan of Little House on the Prairie growing up.  What would it be like to live like the young Laura Ingalls Wilder?  The main character, Genevieve, gets the chance to find out.  It’s funny and charming and ends with a feel good lesson that you’d expect from a young adult book, but author Bell does try to show the reader (and her characters) what real struggles they might endure spending a summer away from 21st century conveniences.

It was a fun book and I’m glad I took the chance on it.
