Boys In The Trees by Carly Simon

Boys In The Trees

Carly Simon suffered from anxiety and depression. She married James Taylor and suffered for him as well: drug abuse and infidelity. Her autobiography details her childhood, adolescence, becoming a singer/songwriter, her marriage to James Taylor and finally their divorced in 1983. Boys In The Trees: A Memoir ends here; leaving enough material for a second book. Carly Simon’s parents had a dysfunctional relationship and there was a lot of pain. But there were also family and friends that enriched her life. This book details those relationships. Music was a big part of her life, even growing up. I wish there were more details about her early solo career. It was interesting to learn about her first music career with her sister. The book spends a lot of pages on her marriage to James Taylor. It’s almost a duo-biography.
