One Shot At Forever by Chris Ballard

One Shot At Forever

If you are a sucker for sports movies where the underdog comes out on top, you will love One Shot At Forever.  In this non-fiction work, Sports Illustrated writer Chris Ballard, uses his talents to share the story of the 1971 Macon Ironmen, a small town Illinois baseball team who made history and went all the way to the state tournament at a time when teams weren’t separated by divisions like they are today.

Put together a long-haired hippie-looking unconventional coach, and a small group of farm boys, and you wouldn’t think the result would be a baseball team with a shot at a state title.  But you’d be wrong.  This book definitely had a lot of heart, great imagery, and excitement.  It was a great book and would make a great movie.  I’d go see it!
