The Stench Of Honolulu by Jack Handey

The Stench of Honolulu

The Stench of Honolulu: A Tropical Adventure was a good antidote to “My Own Country“. I laughed out loud at every chapter. A tongue-in-cheek take on travel and leisure writing. The narrator goes to Hawaii, but not the Hawaii you’re thinking of. This one is dark, dangerous and smells bad. Handey uses random juxtapositions, absurd incidents, and dreamlike plot jumps. They are jarring but very funny to someone of my generation. I liked his ‘Deep Thought‘ pieces on SNL, this book keeps up the stream-of-consciousness jokes.
