The Whistler by John Grisham

The Whistler

I enjoyed The Whistler although it’s slower, and less action packed than Grisham’s usual stories. It’s more cerebral as Grisham shows how well the tracks are covered and what the good guys have to do to get some leverage. I could see a movie being made from this book, which is usually the sign of a bad book, but this one held my attention all the way through.

Criminals in Florida buy off a judge, and skate outside the arms of the Federal Government, by running a skimming operation at a Native American casino. They keep their enterprise small and quiet. But someone knows, and wants to bring this to a halt. It’s not going to be easy. The mafia-like gang hasn’t left anyone around to complain.
